Sept 2010 – Date
Assistant Principal, Business Support, South & West Kent College

With the Merger of South & West Kent College into a single £45 million turnover college, with 25,000 students, I was responsible for the development, direction and monitoring of strategic planning and delivery of the College’s Business Support Services, Human Resources function and Staff Training & development strategy. The remit incorporated overseeing the merger of policies, procedures, systems and complete organisational restructure, incorporating all 1300 staff and departmental and management structures. I took lead responsibility for the strategic development of the College’s business processes and policies, harmonisation of payroll and implementation of numerous business improvements to enhance the capacity and capability of Managers, curriculum and support staff. I was instrumental in the college winning the Investors In People Bronze Award during a time of unprecedented cultural and organisational change.

Feb 2008 – Date
Founder and Author of The Ultimate Leadership Guide
Business Consultant & Coach

Simultaneously running a successful training and consultancy business has given me first-hand experience of the demands, challenges, disappointments and successes of being an entrepreneur. I have travelled across USA, Canada, Dubai and the UK researching leadership models and learning programmes and business growth strategies. My aim has been to publish a range of different tools to help business owners and corporations develop powerful leadership skills to facilitate continuous business improvement; change management & strategic planning; transform profitability; build collaborative partnerships; nurture talent within their organisation and develop a high performance, high value culture. I have developed and delivered corporate interactive learning programmes in leadership, sales and presentation skills which link to my work on The Ultimate Leadership Guide. These programmes are available under licence through various training partners.

Having travelled the world to meet some of the greatest authors and authorities on Leadership and Change Management, I have designed and delivered leadership, business performance and presentation skills training programmes for companies such as Sir Robert McAlpine, The Walt Disney Company, Majid Al Futtaim, HLM Architects and Veritek Global Ltd.

For 6 months I worked directly with 2 companies – Mitsubishi Electric and Veritek Global Ltd to enable their boards of directors to develop a new corporate identity, strategic plans and robust internal communication systems based on a strong vision and set of values for all staff to buy in to.

For 12 months I worked as a business development consultant for The Plumbing Academy in Kent, assisting with the acquisition of the business and enabling them to find new ways to enhance the financial performance of the business during the current recession. This involved designing and implementing business growth strategies; development of staff, admin and business support; implementation of innovative on line and off line marketing systems; planning a take-over bid; setting up key strategic and collaborative partnerships and reviewing all the learning programmes ahead of a major business and City & Guilds curriculum restructure.
